Η Οικογένεια Τρικούπη είναι παλιά οικογένεια του Μεσολογγίου, μέλη της οποίας διακρίθηκαν στην πολιτική, τον στρατό, τα γράμματα, την ιατρική. Η οικογένεια Τρικούπη εγκαταστάθηκε στο Μεσολόγγι περί το 1700 και αποτελεί μια από τις πρώτες οικογένειες της πόλης.

Η οικογένεια Αγγελόπουλου είναι μια από τις μεγαλύτερες επιχειρηματικές οικογένειες της Ελλάδας. Η καταγωγή της οικογένειας είναι από το Βλαχόρραπτη Αρκαδίας ενώ υποστηρίζεται ότι ήταν συγγενική με τον Πατριάρχη Γρηγόριο Ε΄.

Entidade coletiva · Ιδρύθηκε το 1927 15 Σεπτεμβρίου επί Προεδρίας της Δημοκρατίας του Παύλου Κουντουριώτη και Πρωθυπουργίας του Αλεξάνδρου Ζαΐμη με τον Νόμο 3423/7-12-1927/ΦΕΚ Α' 298 με βάση το άρθρο 4 του από 15/9/1927 Πρωτοκόλλου της Γενεύης, το οποίο υπεγράφη μεταξύ των Κυβερνήσεων Γαλλίας, Μ. Βρετανίας και Ιταλίας αφ' ενός και της Κυβέρνησης της Ελλάδας αφ' ετέρου για την έγκριση δανείου 9.000.000 λιρών στερλινών και η λειτουργία της άρχισε τον Μάιο του 1928. Βάσει της Συνθήκης του Μάαστριχτ, συμμετέχει στο Ευρωπαϊκό Σύστημα Κεντρικών Τραπεζών μαζί με την Ευρωπαϊκή Κεντρική Τράπεζα. Είχε το αποκλειστικό εκδοτικό προνόμιο χαρτονομισμάτων στην Ελλάδα από το 1928 έως την εισαγωγή του ευρώ το 2002 και ήταν υπεύθυνη για τη χάραξη της νομισματικής πολιτικής της χώρας

Λίγα χρόνια μετά τη Μικρασιατική Καταστροφή και το τέλος του Πρώτου Παγκόσμιου Πολέμου η Ελλάδα περνούσε από βαθιά κοινωνική, οικονομική και πολιτική κρίση. Η Κοινωνία των Εθνών, μέλος της οποίας ήταν και η Ελλάδα, θεωρούσε ασύμβατο η τράπεζα μίας χώρας η οποία έχει το εκδοτικό προνόμιο (να τυπώνει δηλαδή χρήμα), να ασκεί ταυτόχρονα και εμπορική δραστηριότητα. Ζητήθηκε λοιπόν από την Ελληνική Κυβέρνηση να πάψει η Εθνική Τράπεζα της Ελλάδος, η οποία εκτύπωνε μέχρι τότε τα χαρτονομίσματα στην Ελλάδα, να είναι ταυτόχρονα και εμπορική. Η Ελληνική Κυβέρνηση τελικά αποφάσισε ακριβώς το αντίστροφο. Δηλαδή να ιδρυθεί μια νέα τράπεζα, στην οποία θα μεταφέρονταν τόσο το εκδοτικό προνόμιο όσο και όλες οι υπηρεσίες και τα λογιστικά μεγέθη που απέρρεαν από τη δραστηριότητα αυτή. Βάσει ενός Παραρτήματος του Πρωτοκόλλου της Γενεύης της 15ης Σεπτεμβρίου 1927, ιδρύεται η Τράπεζα της Ελλάδος. Οι εργασίες της ξεκίνησαν στις 14 Μαΐου 1928, με πρώτο Διοικητή τον Αλέξανδρο Διομήδη. Από τότε έως και την αντικατάσταση του εθνικού νομίσματος από το ευρώ το 2002 η Τράπεζα της Ελλάδος είχε το αποκλειστικό προνόμιο της έκδοσης χαρτονομισμάτων.

Στα καθήκοντά της είχε όμως μικρή ανεξαρτησία έως τη δεκαετία του 1990, γι' αυτό και η αποτελεσματικότητά της στην επίτευξη στόχων όπως χαμηλός πληθωρισμός και σταθερό νόμισμα ήταν χαμηλότερη του επιθυμητού.
Η έδρα της βρίσκεται στην Αθήνα. Η Τράπεζα της Ελλάδος και οι υπόλοιπες κεντρικές τράπεζες της Ευρωζώνης είναι οι αποκλειστικοί μέτοχοι της Ευρωπαϊκής Κεντρικής Τράπεζας. Η Τράπεζα της Ελλάδος είχε 2,0564% των μετοχών της Ευρωπαϊκής Κεντρικής Τράπεζας το 1998, 1,8974% το 2004, 1,8168% το 2007 και 2,032% το 2014.[1]

Booth, Gotthard, 1899-1975

Gotthard Booth (1899-1975) was a medical doctor specializing in the practice of psychiatry concerned with chronic physical diseases, psychosomatic medicine, and studies in the relationship between religion and health. Born in Nuremberg, Germany, Booth graduated from the University of Munich Medical School in 1923, and in the early 1930s moved to the United States. He resided in Westport, Connecticut but maintained a practice in New York City. Booth taught at Columbia University from 1945 to 1953, was instructor for one year at the New York Medical College, and from 1962 was consulting psychiatrist for the Union Theological Seminary, New York. In 1965 he became a visiting lecturer at Waterloo Lutheran University (now Wilfrid Laurier University) and its federated college, Waterloo Lutheran Seminary. A fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Booth's research resulted in the publication of more than 60 articles. He worked as a research associate with the New York Psychiatric Institute for ten years. He was also a member of the American Psychosomatic Society, the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine, the New York County Medical Society, and the American Medical Association.

Lang, Avis, 1944-

Avis Lang [Rosenberg] (1944-) is an art historian, teacher, curator, writer and editor who lived in Vancouver for many years. In 1972, as a member of the faculty of the Fine Art Department at the University of British Columbia, she wrote to Canadian artist Jack Chambers (1931-1978) beginning a correspondence that led Chambers to invite her contribution to a scholarly monograph on his work. In 1973, Peter Mellen took over the editorial direction for the book and differences of opinion prompted her to resign the project. Her essay, “The Hart of London: a film by Jack Chambers” was included in The Films of Jack Chambers, edited by Kathryn Elder (Cinematheque Ontario and Indiana State University Press, 2002).

Briere, Elaine

Elaine Briere is a Vancouver documentary-maker, photographer, journalist and social justice activist. Her documentary, Bitter Paradise: The Sell-Out of East Timor, won the best political documentary award at the Hot Docs Festival, North America’s preeminent documentary film showcase, in 1997. In addition to her work on East Timor, which includes a published collection of photographs (Testimony: Photographs of East Timor, Between the Lines, 2004), Briere has directed a documentary on Canadian merchant seamen, Betrayed: The Story of Canadian Merchant Seamen (1997), and has produced photo-journalism and print articles for "The Tyee", "Briarpatch", "Our Times", and other publications dedicated to labour and social justice issues. Briere’s photographs have appeared in many publications including, Carte Blanche Photography 1 (2004); The Other Mexico: The North American Triangle Completed (1996), South East Asia Tribal Groups and Ethnic Minorities (1987) and The Family of Women (1979). Her photographs have been featured in exhibits in Canada, Japan, Sweden and the United States.

Houser, Ray, 1897-1981

J. Ray Houser (1897-1981) was a Lutheran pastor, and President of Waterloo Lutheran Seminary in Waterloo, Ontario. Houser was educated at Gettysburg College and Mt. Airy Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. After his ordination in 1924 he served as a pastor in the United States. In 1954 he became President of Waterloo Lutheran Seminary, serving until his retirement in 1968.

Baxter, Iain, 1936-

Iain Baxter, Canadian conceptual artist, was born in 1936 in Middlesbrough, England, and moved to Calgary, Alberta with his family one year later. While studying biology at the University of Idaho, Baxter met Elaine Hieber, whom he married in 1959. Following studies in the U.S. and Japan, the Baxters moved to Vancouver in 1964, when Iain accepted a teaching position at the University of British Columbia. In subsequent years, he also taught at Simon Fraser University and the Emily Carr College of Art. Early collaborative art ventures culminated in the development of the N.E. Thing Company in 1967. The company functioned as an “aesthetic umbrella,” allowing Iain and his wife to work collaboratively and anonymously to produce a wide range of art forms and projects. The N.E. Thing Co. was formally incorporated in 1969, with Iain Baxter as President and Elaine as Vice President; the two later became co-presidents. Elaine Baxter adopted Ingrid as her preferred name in 1971. Among the company’s projects was the Eye Scream Restaurant, in operation from 1977 to 1978. Following the Baxters’ divorce, the company dissolved in 1978. Iain Baxter returned to Calgary in 1981, where he taught at the Alberta College of Art. For a brief period (1983-84), he was employed as Creative Consultant to the Labatt Brewing Company. Since 1988, Baxter has lived in Windsor, Ontario, where he teaches at the University of Windsor. He married Louise Martin in 1984. Baxter’s work is particularly informed by the ideas of Marshall McLuhan and communications theory. He also cites the art of Giorgio Morandi, Zen Buddhism, and his early studies in biology and ecology as conceptual influences. Baxter has explored a broad range of media and genres, including vacuum-formed plastic, inflated vinyl, telex, polaroid prints, environmental art and multimedia installation. His work is included in the collections of numerous major Canadian and international galleries.

The Canadian Water Resources Association is a national organization of individuals and organizations interested in the management of Canada's water resources. It has branch organizations in most provinces and territories. CWRA history can be traced back to 1947 when the first meeting was held in Alberta as the Western Canada Reclamation Association. CWRA exists to stimulate public awareness and understanding of Canada's water resources, to encourage public recognition of the high priority of water as a valued resource, to provide a forum for the exchange of information and opinion relating to the management of Canada's water resources, and to participate with appropriate agencies in international water resource activities
